Prominent role for the Taronja international players in the November window

FIBA

Valencia Basket men’s team players played a prominent role in a successful international window in terms of results for their respective national teams. Nate Reuvers was Hungary’s top performer (21 points and 8 rebounds for an average efficiency of 24) in their double victory over Finland and Belgium. Omari Moore made his international debut with North Macedonia in a comfortable win over Azerbaijan, and Jean Montero was decisive with 20 points in the Dominican Republic’s victory in Mexico. In addition, Valencia Basket’s Álvaro Cárdenas, on loan at Peristeri BC, contributed to Spain’s double win in Denmark and against Georgia in his first two official games as a senior international, finishing as the national team’s best assist provider in this window with four assists per game.

Victory for Omari Moore in his debut with North Macedonia

Guard Omari Moore was the first of the taronja players to take the court, as he was the naturalized player chosen by North Macedonia for the call-up for the first game of this phase of the EuroBasket 2029 pre-qualification round, which pitted them against Azerbaijan in Skopje. The taronja player contributed to his national team’s 87–49 win with 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists for an efficiency rating of 15. Moore did not take part in the second game, played in Ireland, as Jacob Wiley was the naturalized player selected by coach Ilievsky for that matchup, which they also won.

Nate Reuvers leads Hungary to a double victory

Hungary began the first European window of qualification for the 2027 World Cup with two wins: at home against Finland, 89–82, and in Belgium, 85–87, putting them at the top of Group G with a 2–0 record. Taronja center Nate Reuvers was the standout player for the Hungarian side, with 16 points and 6 rebounds for an efficiency of 20 against Finland, and playing a key role in Hungary’s comeback and final win in Belgium with 26 points (5/7 from three) and 10 rebounds for an efficiency of 28. Two three-pointers from the Valencia Basket big man (who shot 7/10 from beyond the arc in this window) tightened the game twice when the Belgian Lions had built a four-point lead in the final stretch, and a three-shot foul drawn by Reuvers gave his team a small advantage that ultimately proved decisive.

Mixed results for Jean Montero against Mexico

The last taronja player to conclude his participation in these qualifying games was Dominican guard Jean Montero, who in the early hours of Monday to Tuesday saw his national team fall 88–89 to Mexico in a close game decided by two free throws from Andriassi. The taronja guard scored a basket that put the Dominican Republic ahead with 1:13 left and had the potential game-winning three-pointer, but it didn’t go in. Montero finished the game with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists for an efficiency rating of 10. Three days earlier, Jean had been one of the key figures in the Dominican Republic’s win in Mexico, 85–92, with 20 points and 2 assists. That victory allowed the Dominican Republic to occupy second place in Group A with a 1–1 record. Valencia Basket’s Joel Soriano, on loan at Casademont Zaragoza, was another standout for the team, averaging 14 points and 7.5 rebounds for an efficiency of 21.5.
